2020 Year End and Looking Forward to 2021

Happy New Year to all members and stakeholders of the NC Veterans Business Association!! We are wishing you and yours the best that the season can bring and we are thankful for everyone’s contributions to our adjustment to these challenging times.

2020 was an interesting year for NC VetBiz, our state, and our country. The NC VetBiz Board of Directors had been in the middle of strategic planning when it had to pivot to deal with the pandemic and what it meant to deliver for our members and other stakeholder partners. In that regard, we re-evaluated our strategy and approach to execute our plan. We decided that we would focus on two key areas: best practices in nonprofit management and delivering a unique value proposition for our members.

To these ends, for the purpose of ensuring the association’s strength and future, we have taken actions to implement best practices from the NC Center for Nonprofits, which helps to mature our management practices. We are also in the process of upgrading our technology platforms. At the same time, we are implementing solutions to improve our member value proposition. We are putting solutions in place to increase member connection and engagement. Some specific examples include: implementing a Slack channel for increased member engagement, communication and networking; launching a Wilmington Chapter Chaired by Chayse Roth; continuing to grow the chapter structure and helping each member grow their business. We have continued our visible presence by hosting a Veterans Day webcast to include the Brian Hamilton Foundation Chairman as the keynote speaker and attending the North Carolina Women Veterans Summit and Expo.
