Empowering Veterans with Cybersecurity Scholarships

NORTH CAROLINA VETERAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT TANYA JONES SECURES 100 CYBERSECURITY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR VETERANS, THEIR SPOUSES, AND CHILDREN

Exciting news for veterans and their families in North Carolina! Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) and the Carolina Cyber Network (CCN) recently hosted a visit from the White House National Cyber Director, Director Harry Coker Jr. During the visit, a fantastic initiative was announced:

100 Cyber Technician Certification scholarships will be offered by KSE Consulting Group, a leading cybersecurity firm based in Washington, D.C. These scholarships are designed to empower veterans in transitioning to civilian careers while also building a strong pool of cybersecurity talent to safeguard our nation's digital infrastructure.

NC Vet Biz Takes the Lead in Distribution

Thanks to the leadership of Ms. Tanya Jones, the newly appointed president of the North Carolina Veteran Business Association (NC Vet Biz), all 100 scholarships will be distributed through the NC Vet Biz board. Recognizing the importance of supporting veterans beyond just business skills, Ms. Jones saw this as a perfect opportunity to empower veterans with high-demand cybersecurity skills. This, in turn, will not only help veterans secure well-paying civilian jobs but also bolster our national cybersecurity defenses.

Veterans: Uniquely Qualified for Cybersecurity

Ms. Jones emphasized the unique suitability of veterans for cybersecurity roles. Their military training, diverse backgrounds, and familiarity with operations make them invaluable assets in identifying potential security vulnerabilities.

NC Vet Biz: Proud to Contribute

Mr. Mark Haupt, founder of NC Vet Biz, echoed Ms. Jones' enthusiasm. He highlighted how this White House initiative aligns perfectly with NC Vet Biz's mission to educate and support veterans, spouses, and families. Collaborating with the White House to strengthen national cybersecurity is an investment not just in veterans, but in the security of our communities and the entire nation.
